Friday Photo

A view of a ruin (used as a lookout during the Napoleonic Wars) on top of Berwick Law. In the distance, Bass Rock, an island in the outer part of the Firth of Forth, famous for the massive colony of gannets that nests there each year. At the nearby Seabird Centre in North Berwick, folks can direct cameras placed around the island, in order to spy on the birds. You can take a boat out to the island, but I have been told that it is not worth getting off, as you will just be standing in a festoon of bird droppings for 40 minutes before you get picked up again.

A much better day today. Finally I have some antibiotics and feel on the mend. I won't go into it other than to say it was a difficult week. Today I cooked. I made a couple of bulk dishes for the freezer, including some more carrot and ginger soup. But the big hit was dinner, for which I made myself pan fried sea bass with citrus dressed broccoli, complimented with the salty tang of capers and finely chopped anchovies that were cooked until crisp. Scrummy.

That's way too much fish for one dish.

Hey...that rhymes...and you KNOW it rhymes.
