I completely and utterly adore Edinburgh. All of this magnificence, and yet at 11 pm I can still hear through my open living room window, a man yelling at a woman at the bus stop across the street: "Did ye know yer a shitey smelly bastard? Ye need ta change yer knickers."
Yup, this city is tops for views as well as wildly dramatic uses of the English language. Good night.

Ah yes..... no substitute for class is there? We Dundonians have it by the bucketload too.
My brother was in Edinburgh last night. Hope that wasnt him.
Ahhh...what class! hahaha Love the pictures that you shared. What an amazing place!! :)
Lovely city, Sophia. wish I was there. Would love to live in Scotland. Love the yelling quote also! ~rick
Ah...I love your city. I can smell the smells and hear the voices! I'm so glad you share it with us.
Oh my loveliness! I have never been to Scottland, but this has me longing to hop on a plane this afternoon. Gorgeous photos. Thanks for sharing. Enjoying pedalling back through your great blog! :)
He, he, I can imagine all the colorful characters, like that one, there!
Edinburgh is breathtaking. Another place I have to see one day.
Oh my god I love that. It puts a smile on my face, really. That cussing. Love it. Warms the heart. To think they care enough to actually say all that stuff, instead of just walking up to them and shooting them or something. Haven't been but long to go. Soon.
What a city. How are you sweet friend.
xoxo
Ha ha, love it, just the right amount of comedy to that insult.
Nice pictures of our fair city as well.
The pictures and the words are lots of fun. I'll be back.
Great photos! And with the vivid descriptions ou gave - I can nderstand you love it there!
What a fabulous blog, why haven't I been before?
Thanks for the visit, specially as you're busy!
well they've aye said that Edinburgh is a snooty auld lady in a fur coat wi' nae knickers.....
I have got to disagree: I lived in Edinburgh for a year; I found Edinburgh damp, dismal, plagued by foxes, my flat (which cost an arm and a leg) was infested with cockroaches.
Edinburgh has two faces:
1/ Trump it up for the tourists.
2/ Ignore the drugs, poverty and poor housing and social problems on the schemes.
Edinburgh is a contradiction.
Ah, yes, Edinburgh is indeed a contradiction. Then again, so are most things in life. Despite this, I just love it here. Desperate underbelly and all. And while the building I live in may look like something out of a Dicken's novel, I'm really glad my flat doesn't have cockroaches!
