Happy Birthday to me! Let's all go...

Tomorrow I turn 34. I have always loved my birthday, especially after I read more about Beltane and decided to link all the sensual pagan celebrations of the returning of the light and the coming of spring with my own rather touchy-feely nature. On facebook I describe my religion as Pagan-taoist dessert. To me, it makes perfect sense.

Also tomorrow JP and I are taking off for the Isle of Skye, where I hope we will find the Fairy Glen. Then we'll head back to the mainland (as main a land as this island can have), and drive north up the west coast and down the east coast. We are travelling for several days, just wandering and getting away from it all, doing some camping and, let's be honest, having raucous tent sex. What do I care - my parents are not reading this.

I need this little break. I've had two job interviews this week and I'm spent. I won't hear anything for at least a week, so escaping sounds like a good plan.

Want to give me a birthday present? There are still at least five more pieces of Scottish tablet up for grabs for those who are kind enough to help me get going on the senses blog. I appreciate it; it gives me a boost and helps keep me motivated. Thanks you fabulous five who have already thrown yourselves into the followers pit. Although I think JP is just trying to score points, which he has.

Until later. Here is a photo from Easter time that I quite like. I'm not a Christian but I do like a nice robe. Byeeee...

Pagan-taoist - I like that.

Don and I love Scotland, we visited for 2 weeks 28 years ago when I was pregnant for our daughter - who turned 28 today. Happy Birthday to her - and to you tomorrow (well today already where you are)! Lesley and her fiance will spend their honeymoon tracing our path on the Flying Scotsman from London to Edinburgh and a week in Scotland. Wonderful!

Happy Birthday! Enjoy your escapades!
I hope you get the job you interviewed for. That should pan out to be a nice birthday present for you!

I've already wished you Happy Birthday twice, but... what the hell! Happy Birthday! And good luck finding the Fairy Glen - I'd heard he's moved.

Happy birthday, Chickadee!

The only present I can give you is my favorite poem (the first line of which is tattoed on my arm along with a thistle and the Scottish rose):

The rose of all the world is not for me.
I want for my part
Only the little white rose of Scotland
That smells sharp and sweet - and breaks the heart

Hugh Mac Diarmid (1892-1978) "The Little White Rose"

Happy Birthday! I hope it was a great one. And hope you get one of the jobs you interviewed for.

Happy Belated Beltane Birthday...
I have an affinity for Pagan holidays, as mine also falls upon one.
In fact, my daughter and I are sandwiched between the first day of harvest (Lammas) and the last day of harvest (Samhain).
We happened upon "Festivals, Family, and Food" (circa 1982) complete with sketches, baking, and the odd song to complement ritual.
The dedication is similarly apropos: "for our children and others, who reminded us of what the seasons can mean."
All the best!
